Vancouver-based Stand Up For Mental Health (SMH) uses stand-up comedy to break down the stigma surrounding mental illness and facilitate a lively discussion on Campus. Laughter is our Lethal Weapon of Choice.

This October, SMH visits 12 top universities and colleges across Canada during MIAW (National Mental Illness Awareness Week/Month). We are proud to visit TRU.

SMH Days on Campus allows Thompson Rivers to share its mental health strategies, challenges, successes and research with other top schools across Canada.

1 in 5 Canadians will personally deal with a mental illness in their lifetime. 100% of us will be affected collaterally through family, friends, peers and others. Students are a huge part of that demographic. Youth suicide and depression are just an example of some of the serious mental health issues facing students, their families and schools.
