Kamloops is in the final stage of competition against Kelowna and Prince George to be the host community of the 2015 Canada Winter Games. The Canada Games Bid Evaluation Committee will return to Kamloops for its second visit on Tuesday, August 10th. This is their final visit before making their decision in September.
TRU is key to the bid committee’s proposal for the 2015 games. The Residence and Conference Centre will be transformed into an Athlete’s Village for the duration of games.
The committee arrives in Sun Peaks today, before they make their way into town tomorrow morning, taking the Halston Connector to 12th Street and will arrive at McArthur Island. The 2015 Motorcoach will then go by the Spirit Square along Mackenzie Avenue, cross the Overlander Bridge to Interior Savings Centre, before passing St. Andrew’s on the Square on the way to 1st Ave. Finally, the bus will arrive at the Tournament Capital Centre and Hillside Stadium.
