CIBC’s donation will provide 70 renewable bursary and scholarships awards in Business Administration
CIBC generously donated $150,000 to Thompson Rivers University and its School of Business and Economics to support 70 renewable bursary and scholarship awards in the Bachelor of Business Administration over the next five years.
The CIBC Awards in Business Administration will be awarded each year over a five year period, to 13 undergraduate students enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Business Administration Program. These awards are valued at $2,000 annually for up to five years. There will also be one additional $4,000 scholarship awarded each year to a student who is considered to have achieved exemplary performance in the program.
“At CIBC, we’re committed to helping kids and young adults build a better future and providing increased access to education is a large part of that commitment,” said Rick Sallis, District Vice-President, CIBC and TRU Foundation Board Member. Each year, CIBC invests millions of dollars in scholarship funding, skills training and mentoring programs that benefit thousands of young people across Canada,” added Sallis. “We are proud to partner with Thompson Rivers University in supporting today’s business students and tomorrow’s business leaders.”
“We deeply appreciate CIBC’s continued dedication to supporting our great students and investing in our society and the economy through this gift”, said Alan Shaver, President and Vice-Chancellor, TRU. This donation cements CIBC’s place as one of TRU’s largest donors and long standing President’s Circle member.
Meagan Blyth entered the BBA program from the Applied Business Technology program. Currently in her 3rd year, she received a $4,000 scholarship today from CIBC. Thanking the CIBC and the TRU Foundation she said, “With financial assistance, students have the ability to dedicate all of their time and energy to their education.
