Business student wins $4,000 scholarship

TRU student Breagh Farquharson is one of 30 post-secondary business students from across Canada to win an Export Development Canada 2013 International Business Scholarship.

The scholarship is a $4,000 cash award.

An EDC media release stated that the selection committee had a strong field this year, with eligible applications submitted by 337 students representing 55 universities and 16 colleges. The program started in 2000 and in that time, 367 awards have been distributed.

The scholarships are, “to underscore the significance of international trade and investment among Canada’s future young business leaders,” stated the EDC media release. “Under its scholarship program, EDC awards scholarships to outstanding students in the field of international business and outstanding students who have combined business and environmental studies.”

Farquharson is from Barriere, BC, which is about a 40-minute drive north of Kamloops along the Yellowhead Highway.
