Matt Milovick
Following an extensive national search, Thompson Rivers University has announced the appointment of Matt Milovick to the position of Vice-President, Administration and Finance at Thompson Rivers University.
Milovick assumes responsibility as VP Administration and Finance on July 22, taking over from Larry Prins who has been acting VP since Cliff Neufeld’s retirement on March 1.
Milovick comes to TRU from the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCAD U) in Toronto where he is the Vice-President Finance and Administration. Within that portfolio he is responsible for operations and strategic development in the areas of finance, risk management, human resources, facilities, IT services, and commercial/ancillary operations.
“In addition to stellar credentials in senior administration and financial management, Matt’s record of accomplishment in bringing entrepreneurial innovation to post secondary environments also impressed the selection committee,” said Alan Shaver, TRU President and Vice-Chancellor.
During his time at OCAD University, Milovick successfully led the Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation, and was a co-lead for the Innovation, Productivity and Sustainability Task Force initiating productivity, affordability gains and innovation in administration and academic practice, and identifying new sources of revenue generation. He is credited with transforming OCAD U’s budget development process and building excellent working relationships with his academic colleagues.

“Over the past decade, I have watched TRU grow, evolve and transform, with both fascination and admiration, for its innovative approach to post-secondary education,” said Milovick. “I am very excited to have this opportunity to play a part in helping TRU shape its future.”
Along with his 19 years of post-secondary administration experience, he has two undergraduate degrees, BSc (University of Guelph) and BAS (York University), a MEd (Memorial University of Newfoundland) in post secondary administration and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
Milovick has held senior and executive positions with various post-secondary institutions including as Chief Financial Officer (Interim) and Vice-President, Operations and Strategic Development at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) prior to joining OCAD. Matt has also held diverse senior roles at Saint John’s College (University of New Brunswick Saint John) and York University.
While at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, he received the annual CMA Creative Leadership Award for his role in the transformation of Oshawa’s downtown core through the development of a full-service campus for the University. Most recently he was one of 40 selected executives in Canada to participate in KPMG’s Community Shift development program.
