TRU will join more than 2,000 communities across the country to celebrate Canada Career Week from October 31st to November 5th.
Businesses throughout Kamloops will be on campus to discuss labour market information, personal hiring practices and to meet students that are interested in working for them.
“The goal of the week’s activities is to provide students and alumni invaluable information for planning their future and making wise career decisions,” said TRU Student Employment Centre coordinator and event organizer Shawn Read.
The week’s activities will include:
Work Search and Career Decision Making workshops, October 31, Campus Activity Centre, Room C130, 11:30-3:20 (one workshop each hour)
An invaluable presentation on Maximizing Your First Year on the Job, November 1, Clock Tower Auditorium, 12:45 – 2:15 pm
Geography Industry Panel, November 1, Old Main 2621, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Trades Industry Panel, November 2, Campus Activity Centre, Grand Hall, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm (free pizza included)
Co-operative and Career Education Social, November 2, Campus Activity Centre, Heroes Pub, 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Tourism Industry Panel, November 3, Campus Activity Centre, Grand Hall, 12:30 – 2:00 pm (free pizza included)
Certified General Accountant Social, November 3, International Building, Panorama Room, 5:30 – 7:30 pm
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to hear first hand information on the realities of local employment opportunities, now and in the future,” said Read. “This type of information is invaluable and can really make a difference in the transition between school and work.”
