UCC Brings the Beach to Campus

KAMLOOPS-What’s a beach party without barbecued hotdogs, games and maybe even a round or two of bocce ball?

Even better, this is one beach party where nobody will drop ice cream in the sand; it’s going to be held on the lush UCC campus, on the grassy commons outside Old Main Student Street from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 20th.

Students in the current session, which runs until June 18th, and the next session, which runs from June 21st to August 6th, as well as students enrolled in courses encompassing both sessions, are all invited to the “May Beach Party” orientation event: sunglasses and beach towels optional.

“Orientation is a way to welcome new students to campus, and familiarize them with what UCC has to offer,” explained UCC Orientation coordinator Sandra Kuhlmann. “It’s always lots of fun. For the summer session, students and staff get free hotdogs, chips, pop & ice cream, and there are prizes, a scavenger hunt, a bocce ball tournament and music.”

At the beginning of each new semester, UCC Student Development coordinates orientation activities to help students learn their way around, provide information on services, offer social events to help students meet friends, and encourage students to participate in campus life. Similar events are held in September and January at the beginning of the Fall and Winter semesters.
