McCormick brings expertise to Ottawa

Dr. Rod McCormick, BC Innovation Council Chair in Aboriginal Health and a national expert in First Nations mental health.

Dr. Rod McCormick (School of Education, Faculty of Education and Social Work), was invited to address the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs in October 2016, to inform its investigation into Suicide Among Indigenous Peoples and Communities. The committee will report its findings to the House of Commons. McCormick holds the BC Regional Innovation Chair in Aboriginal Early Childhood Development at TRU. He has a PhD in Counselling Psychology, is recognized as a national and international expert in Indigenous mental health, and is an award-winning researcher into healing for suicidal First Nations youth. McCormick is the Director of the All My Relations research network which supports Aboriginal family and community health and healing.
