The following summary is from the TRU Actors Workshop Theatre website…Traveling salesman Willy Loman suddenly arrives home after an alarming car trip. His wife Linda is deeply concerned, for he has had a series of accidents, possible suicide attempts, symptoms of the death of his career and his hopes for a better life for himself and his family.
The complete title of the play is Death of a Salesman: Certain Private Conversations in Two Acts and a Requiem, referring not only to the death of the main character, but also to the dark side of the American Dream. This great classic of modern American theatre asks us to consider Willy Loman as a figure of significance, perhaps even nobility: A small man can be just as exhausted as a great man.
