Celebrating Undergraduate Innovation and Research is the theme of this year’s undergraduate Conference, March 19 and 20th at TRU’s International Building. Friday’s events feature a Science Poster session (12:30- 5:30 in the Panorama Room) where students will describe the results of their research projects, and various visual displays from Arts, Science and Trades students in the lobby of the International Building (3-5:30 pm). This year’s Conference highlights TRU’s Culinary Arts and Performing Arts students at the Conference Banquet Friday evening, featuring an exciting menu of sustainable and regional culinary delights, with an introduction to sustainable dining given by students from the Natural Resource Science program. “Dessert Theatre” features an excerpt from the play “UNITY (1918)” by Kevin Kerr, directed by Heidi Verwey. Saturday’s events include oral presentations by students from a wide range of disciplines at TRU, including English, Canadian Studies, Journalism, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, Architectural and Engineering Technology, Tourism and Culinary Arts. Some of the topics include “Molecular Gastronomy”, “Designing the 2010 YWCA/CHBA Green Dream Home”, “Fantasy Walks Through Global Small Cities” and “The Theatre of Aboriginal Storytelling”, as well as an “Open Mic” session featuring works by Creative Writing students, among many others. The 5th Annual Conference presents the work of over 80 Undergraduate students- highlighting the importance that Faculty at TRU place on providing research experiences for Undergraduates as part of our enriched curriculum in many disciplines.

Attendance at the Conference is free and open to all- students, faculty and members of the public.
