TRU president invites everyone to get involved in Envision TRU

September 18, 2019

KAMLOOPS–As Envision TRU moves into its second phase, Thompson Rivers University is encouraging the public, staff, students and faculty to keep participating. And for newcomers to join in the process.

Envision TRU is an extensive initiative to gather input into creating a vision for the university’s next decade. Response to the first phase has been strong, with hundreds of people attending group discussions on campus, online and at regional sessions.

TRU is doing it again, with three public community consultations coming up in Williams Lake, Kamloops and Merritt. On this second go-round, participants will hear about some of the key themes that came out of the first phase of consultations, and then they will be asked: What’s missing?

Comments from the community consultations will be added to information gathered at another round of dozens of discussion groups and online. Those who can’t attend can contribute their ideas and thoughts by going to envisiontru.ca and clicking on the online Thoughtexchange or by emailing them to envision@tru.ca. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, Oct. 5.

The final report for Envision TRU will come out in the third phase of the project, followed by phase four, with the drafting of a new TRU vision with values and priorities for the next 10 years.

The community consultations are:

  • Williams Lake, Thursday, Sept. 12, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 119 in the Pioneer Complex, 351 Hodgson Rd.
  • Merritt, Tuesday, Sept. 24, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., NVIT Campus Room U001, 4155 Belshaw St.
  • Kamloops, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Desert Gardens Community Centre, 540 Seymour St.
