FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kamloops—On Thursday, March 14, TRU Tourism Management, supported by Bass Coast Music and Art Festival, co-presents The Collage Party, featuring electronic artists Slynk and Fort Knox Five.
The Collage Party is produced by students enrolled in the event management course for the annual IDays Festival with TRU World. This is a collaborative and experiential social art gathering that lets participants create collage art in a communal atmosphere under the guidance of artist Paul Butler. This is going to be a memorable event.
Paul Butler is a Toronto-based visual artist who has hosted The Collage Party concept for nearly 20 years. He’s thrown parties for groups from a dozen and to a thousand, from kindergarten classrooms to the Museum of Contemporary Art. Butler created collage parties so people could express themselves, be immersed in the art experience and reap creative and therapeutic benefits.
Fort Knox Five tours their signature brand of glitched-out funk with high energy sets in every environment from pools to lounges to world-famous clubs and some of the largest festivals across the globe. Forget about tempos and genres, let Fort Knox Five take you on a musical journey that unites funk, soul, jazz, hip hop and electronic generations.
Slynk started playing with classical instruments when he was young, but it wasn’t until he began experimenting with sampling and sound design that he found his true passion. He spent five years in his hometown of Brisbane perfecting his technique and moved to BC in 2013 to continue conquering the new world as an ambassador of funk.
The event management students are excited to present this unique social occasion at TRU and see how the lessons they have learned in the classroom play out in the real-world. They get real-time, real-budget and hands-on experience in conceptualizing, planning, managing and staging this special event.
This is an all-ages event. Tickets are available at various locations on campus and online through Eventbrite.ca. Prices are $15 for students and $20 for the public.
