What are the new addresses?

Beginning May 1, Thompson Rivers University will have a new address: 805 TRU Way, Kamloops, BC V2C 0C8.

Although the mailing address will change, the postal code will not. Canada Post will redirect mail sent to 900 McGill Road until April 30, 2018.

“We have added building addresses for a number of reasons,” said TRU Associate Director, Office of Safety & Emergency Management Stacey Jyrkkanen. “We are doing this to better assist emergency response personnel and the general public to find their way around campus. This has resulted in a change to the campus main address. Also, as The Reach is currently developing property on campus they will need to have their own address for legal reasons.”

TRU hired a wayfinding consultant to work with a committee of departments key to the operation of the university, including Safety and Emergency Management, Facilities, Procurement/Warehouse, Marketing and Communications, Finance, Print Services, IT Services, Ancillary Services, Residence & Conference Center, TRU Community Trust and Risk Management. The TRU Students’ Union was also consulted because they are tenants in the Campus Activity Centre.

Over a year in the making, the initiative started with a contest to name three unnamed short streets on campus and once the streets were named, the City of Kamloops assigned every campus building a physical address. Over the coming months new signage will be installed and addresses will be integrated into BC’s Emergency Communications systems.
