Orientation is one of the busiest and most exciting days on campus. With droves of new and returning students flooding the Campus Commons, the energy is electric.

We met some new student faces from around campus at Orientation 2016 and asked them about their goals for the up-coming semester.

Jasleen Kaur, School of Business

“I want to make the most of this experience. I want to get to know the culture of Canada which is so different than the culture of India, by the end of the year I am hoping to be a part of it. This is my first time living away from home and I am looking forward to being independent.”

Jasleen is from New Dehli, India.

Cody Bird, Architectural and Engineering Technology 

“My goal this year is to get good grades. My long-term goal is to become an architect.”

Cody is from the Shuswap, BC.

Jo-lene Anderson, Faculty of Arts 

“My goal—to stay in school and do better this year than I did in high school. And to pick a major. Currently I plan to study Psychology”

Jo-lene is from 100 Mile House, BC.

Brandon Giddens, currently upgrading 

“I want to get comfortable transitioning from high school to university while I am upgrading. My long term goal is law school.”

Brandon is from Kamloops, BC.

Anna-Lena Kohler, Master of Business Administration

“I want to gain insight into a different field of study and broaden my horizons. I have a Bachelor of Psychology (from Germany) and would love to combine that with an MBA.”

Anna-Lena is from Germany.

Danny Ku, ESL (right)

“I hope that I am able to do my best in school and learn English while I am here. I want to get into visual arts and hope to become an architect one day.”

Danny is from Taiwan.

Shelby Fiddes-Walden & Jocelyn Winmill, Arts & Open Learning students

“My first goal is just to find my way around campus, there is a lot to navigate,”  said Fiddes-Walden.

“Yes, I also want to find my way around—first thing I need to do is find the cashier and pay my tuition. Thanks to Orientation I learned my way around the Arts building,” said Winmill.

Shelby and Jocelyn are both from Edmonton, AB.
