RobinWho: Robin Schoebel

Occupation: Underground Miner, New Gold Inc.

Bio: 28 year old alumnus from South East of France, Robin Schoebel, moved to Canada to attend TRU as an international student in 2006. He has been in Canada for nine years, where he now enjoys a country lifestyle on a 31-acre property in Barnhartvale. He has one brother and two sisters that still reside in France that he misses dearly, but he loves the Canadian lifestyle. He is engaged to fiancé Cari Sutcliffe and his hobbies include weight lifting, hiking, and hanging out at home with his dogs.

Connection to TRU: Robin was a cornerstone of the men’s volleyball program as a student-athlete and feels a close connection to TRU athletics and the Men’s Volleyball team. “TRU gave me so much. A new life, a chance at an education and a career, and for that I am grateful.”

Why he gives?
Robin has continued to financially support the men’s volleyball program after graduating. He gives because, without the help of donors, he would not have been able to afford coming to Canada from France and studying while playing volleyball. It is important to him to give back in order to help provide this opportunity to someone else. “I got given a chance so I must give someone else that chance.”

Thanks for making a difference Robin.
