Kamloops Fire Rescue and the City of Kamloops are hosting the 2015 Volunteer Firefighters Association of BC Spring Training Seminar at Thompson Rivers University.
This annual training seminar brings together volunteer firefighters from throughout British Columbia for three days of intense educational training necessary for the safe performance of their duties in their respective communities. There will also be suppliers demonstrating equipment and apparatus related to the firefighting industry. This year, organizers are anticipating over four hundred volunteer firefighters, plus their families, to spend their weekend in Kamloops.
This year’s seminar will be held May 1st to 3rd, 2015 at CAC, the surrounding grounds, and the Kamloops Fire Rescue Training Facility.
Firefighters will be training in live fire scenarios, auto extrication, technical rescue, search and rescue techniques, Rapid
Intervention (RIT), and other valuable skills.There will be a public open house on Saturday, May 2nd, from
1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Campus Activity Center. It will include a bouncy castle, various fire engines and equipment, manufacturer’s displays and the opportunity to watch some of the training sessions.
