On September 7, 2013 , the TRU Alumni office in partnership with TRU Athletics hosted over 60 former Cariboo College, UCC and TRU soccer players at Hillside Stadium to reunite and watch a new generation of both men’s and women’s WolfPack soccer players defeat the Capilano Blues 2 –1.
The alumni reconnected over a barbeque, visited memory lane through a photographic WolfPack history display, and celebrated their past through an alumni awards ceremony.
The ceremony featured a recognition of past national champions including the 1998 Men’s team and the 1999 Women’s team. Both teams are the sole national gold medalists for the program and will go down in history as outstanding examples of hard work and leadership.
A new Wolfpack Alumni Community Leadership Award was presented to Kelly Shantz and Amanda Guido from the women’s side, both winners are extraordinary examples of dedication to the sport of soccer in the community. Winners from the men’s side were Ralph Tedder, former head coach of UCC and coach of the national gold medal winning team and the late Errol Wilde, who was with the soccer program for over a decade.
The next alumni athletic event will take place on November 2, 2013 at the TCC for former men’s and women’s basketball players. Once again their will be award presentations and a chance for alumni to reconnect and cheer on the newest members of the Wolfpack.
