Regional Champs

Enactus Thompson Rivers are regional champions.  The largest student club at TRU, the team has returned from the Enactus Western Canada Regional competitions in Calgary with its most successful outing in the 11-year history of the club . Competing in three events, against teams from 18 other post-secondary institutions, including most of the large universities west of Ontario, Enactus Thompson Rivers were named Regional Champion and earned two first runner-up awards.

Competing in several categories: TD Entrepreneurship Challenge, Scotiabank EcoLiving Challenge, and Capital One Financial Education Challenge. Enactus Thompson Rivers presented on their community outreach programs, how they effectively empowered others, and how their programs raised the standard of living and quality of life for people in Kamloops.

The  winning results from the 2013 Enactus Regional Expositions March 7-8th in Calgary are:

·         Capital One Financial Education Challenge ~ Regional Champion

·         Scotiabank EcoLiving Challenge ~ Regional Runner-up

·        TD Entrepreneurship Challenge ~ Regional Runner-up

Additionally, since May 2012, they have:

·         Had  87 members put in over 9,424 volunteer hours

·         Raised over 18,000 pounds of food for local food banks

·         Worked with 80 partners

·         Ran 5 programs, directly impacting 457 people

As Regional Champions, Enactus moves on in the Capital One Financial Education Challenge to compete again at the 2013 Enactus Canada National Exposition from May 6th – 8th in Toronto, Ontario. Along with these presentations, they will also be competing in the 2013 Enactus Canada National Competition against over 50 other Enactus Teams in Canada.
