“We could not be more pleased to welcome Starr Carson to the School of Business and Economics Advisory Board. His diverse background and familiarity with the School and our students will add another level to the knowledge and skill base of our Board,” said Dr. Russell Currie, TRU Dean School of Business and Economics. “The addition of a professional of Starr’s caliber will provide a clear and direct benefit to our students.”

As the Office Managing Partner of KPMG Kamloops, one of the largest accounting and professional services firms in the Interior of BC, Carson brings a wealth of private sector expertise to the SoBE Advisory Board. He attended the University of British Columbia where he graduated with Honours in the Commerce and Business Administration Program. After graduation, he articled with Price Waterhouse in Vancouver and obtained his CA designation. In 1993, Carson relocated to Kamloops and has been practising as a CA with KPMG since 1997. He is currently on the Board of Directors of KPMG Canada.

Carson is a tax specialist who has completed the CICA In-Depth Tax Program and is a frequent lecturer for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants on a variety of tax matters.

He brings an array of experience in working with a wide variety of clients in different industries. This leaves Carson uniquely suited to assist SoBE in developing their graduates in a manner demanded by companies in today’s dynamic business environment.

Over the years, Carson has had a close affiliation with TRU and many of its personnel. KPMG hires many graduates from the School of Business and Economics and he is excited about the opportunity to help SoBE further its objectives in the coming years.
