Thompson Rivers University recently received a Silver Rating under the Sustainability Tracking Assessment & Rating System (STARS) sustainability tracking system for its initiatives during the 2010-11 fiscal year.

In the Innovation category, TRU was awarded points for:

  • Participation in the construction of the EQuilibrium 2010 Y Dream Home
  • Donating materials to Habitat for Humanity that resulted in $10,000 in sales for the not-for-profit
  • Formation of the Thompson-Shuswap Chef Farmer Collaborative by Culinary Arts instructor Ed Walker
  • Creation of the Campus Sustainability Action Plan through the cooperation TRUSU, CUPE 4879, TRU Faculty Association, Alumni Association, and administration.
