Thompson Rivers University has ratified a two-year agreement with the Thompson Rivers University Faculty Association, an agreement that covers approximately 500 full-time employees that include faculty-instructors, counselors, librarians, and instructional support employees at TRU.
The TRU Board of Governors provided its unanimous support at a special ratification vote held yesterday. The Faculty Association members voted 88 per cent in favour of the agreement.
“The Faculty Association is pleased with the results of bargaining. Both parties worked hard to come to an agreement on some difficult issues, and we feel the end result is a win-win situation,” said TRUFA President, Jason Brown.
“We are extremely pleased to have come to an agreement. This partnership with our faculty continues our tradition of academic excellence and quality student experience,” said TRU President and Vice-Chancellor Alan Shaver.
TRU ratified a two-year collective agreement with its Open Learning faculty members early this year. TRU and CUPE Local 4879 are currently in bargaining, with talks to resume in the fall.
