TRU's annual celebration of culture seeks volunteers for the week of February 7th – 11th

International Days is an annual celebration of culture at Thompson Rivers University. During the week of February 7th – 11th, international students alongside Canadians who have worked or studied abroad will share their experiences and stories of adventures abroad. This week long celebration introduces attendees to a series of ideas, presentations, events and displays organized by students, faculty and staff.

This year’s schedule features an impressive array of over 70 presentations, events and displays. Events include lectures on global issues, an international tea exhibition, food fair, fashion show and flag parade.

To develop an extensive educational gala such as this one, much help is required and volunteers are highly encouraged. Volunteers will be able to take part in creating contacts and friendships with other volunteers and organizers of the festival. Although this is a week-long event, any time that can be donated would be appreciated.

To extend their gratitude, the coordination committee will be providing meals and a certificate to recognize the efforts of every volunteer who participates in the event. The ultimate benefit for participants is to expand their cultural knowledge and experience working with their university in the creation of a Globally Minded Campus. Students who need to complete volunteer hours for program course’s, or for their resumes are encouraged to apply as hours accumulated from this event can be put towards a Global Competency Distinction upon graduation.

Everyone from the community of TRU and Kamloops is invited to attend and celebrate International Days. Mark February 7 – 11, 2011 in your calendar and join us in fostering a global community, locally!
