Art installation uses salvaged pieces

October 18, 2010

Reckon is a collaborative installation by Bo Yeung and Megan Gamble—TRU students in their final year of their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Artists statement: The installation is comprised of salvaged and found materials from the Kamloops area; reflective of the landscape, history, architecture, and collective as well as personal experiences and perspectives in this community.
Part of this piece is in its deconstruction, where the gallery will be used as a site in which to find materials to glean for further use.
Participants will help de-install then re-integrate the materials into use in their homes, artworks, compost, recycle depot, or what have you.

The following video was filmed in the TRU Art Gallery a few hours before the show opened on Oct. 18. In the segment, artists Gamble and Yeung shed light on what they’re trying to say with the show and what they hope viewers will take away.
