TRU Science Seminar Series presents… The Science (and Art) of The Green Dream Home.
A lecture by Dale R. Parkes,
Registered Architect-MAIBC & TRU Lecturer with the ARET program in the TRU Faculty of Science.

Abstract
Photovoltaic panels, evacuated tube solar collectors, geothermal heat pumps, drain water heat recovery, super-insulation, passive solar design, and passive ventilation are just some of the technologies and techniques that have been employed in the Green Dream Home in order to reduce the building’s energy consumption to zero over the course of a year. This presentation will explain the science behind how these technologies work and the art behind how they were all brought together to create one of the most sustainable homes in Canada. The Green Dream Home has been selected for the CMHC’s EQuilibrium Sustainable Housing Demonstration Initiative – one of only 13 in Canada.
