Ron Olynyk, Chair of the Board of Governors of Thompson Rivers University announced today a change in the senior leadership of the University.

Dr. Kathleen Scherf has been released from her appointment as President and Vice Chancellor, effective today. Kathleen Scherf, Ph.D. began her role as President and Vice Chancellor of Thompson Rivers University in September 2008. As part of her terms of appointment with the University, a formal review was initiated earlier this summer and was recently presented to the University’s Board of Governors.

According to the Board Chair Ron Olynyk, “this has been a difficult decision for the Board of Governors but one that is in the best long term interest of the University”.

Under the terms of her contract, Dr. Scherf may continue her academic career with TRU in her tenured appointment as a Full Professor in the Faculty of Arts.

The Board of Governors has appointed the former President, Dr. Roger Barnsley, to return to the University temporarily to serve as Interim President and Vice Chancellor until a new President is recruited.
