Gene McKay, volunteer chair of the 3rd Annual Thompson Rivers University Charity Golf Classic is pleased to announce the presenting sponsor of this year’s event is VODA Computer Systems.

Founded by TRU alumni Andrew Watson and Mark Zienowicz, VODA Computers has sales and service centres in Kelowna, Penticton, Grand Forks and Vernon. Since establishing its head office in Kamloops in 1993, VODA Computer Systems has become the leading supplier of computer hardware, networks and related services in Southern British Columbia.

“In many ways our company’s growth can be directly attributed to the skilled TRU graduates we employ,” Watson said about VODA’s sponsorship of the tournament. “The success of students at the university is good for our company and our community.”

McKay, a retired senior vice president of Pollard Banknote has been involved with the TRU Foundation Golf Classic since its inception. Student success should not be restrained by financial concerns he says. “This event is a way to support students and have some fun at the same time.” The goal this year is for the tournament to raise $50,000 for financial aid to support for TRU students.

Golfers will be treated to many refreshments when they tee off at Rivershore Golf Course on Sept. 12.
