The Thompson Rivers University Environmental Advisory Committee is pleased to announce that Kevin Hydes, a pioneer in the green building movement, will present a free talk in the Alumni Theatre in the Clock Tower building on Nov. 21, 2007 at 4:00 pm.
Hydes, an impassioned presenter, speaker, and advisor within the green community, will share his wealth of knowledge on how to make communities sustainable in his address, “The Global Green Tsunami”.
“The green building movement is rapidly gaining momentum throughout the world and pressure for green building technologies continues to swell and sweep across the building industry and communities,” said Hydes. “I’ll be speaking on the need for industry to: increase performance, capacity and respond quickly, and the challenge for citizens; understanding the issues and how to lead the local community to transform the built environment.”
Currently Hydes is the Vice President of Buildings Engineering and Sector Leader for Sustainable Design at Stantec and Chair of the World Green Building Council. He is also an Honorary Member of both the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Architectural Institute of BC. He is an Adjunct Professor at McGill University School of Architecture and the Liaison Officer for the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada and the Canadian Green Building Council.
The “Global Green Tsunami” is sponsored by Stantec, the City of Kamloops and TRU.
