TRU men’s volleyball confirms first 2007/08 recruitKAMLOOPS – One of the hardest hitting high school players in BC will join the TRU WolfPack men’s volleyball team next season.

Revelstoke spiker Josh Boruck, whose spike touch reaches 11′ 4.5″ and attains speeds up to 106km/h, and is one of the most explosive athletes WolfPack coach Patrick Hennelly has seen in high school.

“Physically, Josh belongs at the CIS level,” said Hennelly. “I feel Josh will come in right away and challenge at the net in terms of spiking and blocking and will be a big part of our future. I have been recruiting Josh for over a year and I am very happy he chose TRU.”

The young player from the Kootenays helped Team Okanagan BC to a bronze at the 2004 BC Summer Games, led his high-school team to the senior boys’ provincial AA championship in 2006, has played Team BC U-16 and U-17, and won a hitting competition at the Louis St Laurent tournament in the 05/06 season, hitting the ball at speeds of 100km/hr and 106km/hr.

“Josh has been on my radar since last October when we played an intersquad game in Revelstoke and Josh hit warm-up balls with our team,” said Hennelly. “He was the hardest hitter in the gym as a grade 11 student. I also coached Josh last year on our Kamloops U-18 club team and I am looking forward to coaching Josh for the next four to five years,” he added.

The 6’6″ outside hitter will be enrolled in arts next semester.
