Those with an interest in geography are invited to get involved in the Annual General Meeting of the Western Division of the Canadian Association of Geographers (WDCAG) to be hosted by TRU March 10th and 11th at its Kamloops campus.
“TRU’s Department of Geography would like to extend a cordial invitation to the TRU and Kamloops communities to attend and participate in the conference,” said Gilles Viaud, chair of the organizing committee for the event, adding that “All human and physical geography related papers, posters, workshops or special sessions will be considered.”
Field trips, paper and poster presentations, a competition for outstanding student presentations at all academic levels, a plenary address and many social activities are planned for the two-day event which will bring about 150 human and physical geography faculty, undergraduate and graduate students from all over BC, Alberta and beyond to the campus.
This will be the third time the campus has hosted the WDCAG, said Viaud.
“The first was by Cariboo College in 1984 and the second by The University College of the Cariboo in 1994. This year our slogan is ‘Come and explore the sights of British Columbia’s southern interior and experience the hospitality of Canada’s new Department of Geography at BC’s newest university.'”
Academics and members of the public are welcome to attend the conference and to propose sessions or papers. Those wishing to organize a workshop or a special session or present a paper may contact Viaud by email or call 828-5239.
Registration for the conference will start in early January.
