UCC Athletes Excel in Provincial Rankings

KAMLOOPS – UCC basketball and volleyball players are on the BC Colleges’
Athletic Association League Leader’s list for the week ending Jan. 19.

Devin Andrew, who plays in the outside position on the Sun Demons
Men’s Volleyball team, leads the province, now holding the number one
spot for average aces per game.

Teammate Wade Giles, also in the outside position, is tied for 4th in
the province for average aces, and 9th for average kills, while men’s
volleyball outside player Kyle Brewer is ranked 6th for average aces,
and tied for 15th place in average kills.

Three other Sun Demons men’s volleyball players are also on this
week’s list, with Mark Thibeault in 6th place for average digs, Drew
Venables tied for 5th place in average stuff blocks, and Matt Bajikov
in 15th place for average stuff blocks.

Five players on the women’s volleyball team also made the list, with
Anna Davidson in 5th place for average digs, Lisa Strachan in 11th
place for average aces, Sandra-Joy Unaegbu in the 15th spot for
average stuff blocks, Brenna Adkins in 7th place for average kills,
and Robyn Devlin making the list twice, ranking 6th for average kills
and 14th for average digs.

UCC women’s basketball player Kelley O’Grady also made the list
twice, ranking 3rd in the province for points, and 5th for assists.

Also in number one spot this week in UCC men’s basketball point guard
Sean Garvey, who leads the province in assists. He’s currently ranked
6th overall for points, behind teammate Brad Van Dolah who is in 4th
place for points. Sun Demons Post Jeff Friesen is also on the list, in
6th place for rebounds.
