Green up TRU at tree planting day

Volunteers will be rewarded with cookies, baseball caps and the satisfaction of seeing ‘their’ trees flourishing on campus at the campus tree planting day on Thurs., June 8.

A total of 30 staff, students and faculty are needed to plant 15 large fruit and nut trees for one to two hours. Gloves are provided, but volunteers should bring water, hats and shoes that are suitable for the job (runners are great). Staff and faculty from the Horticulture and Grounds Maintenance departments are providing professional supervision.

Volunteers are asked to sign up by Tues., June 6, by emailing sustain@tru.ca, putting “tree volunteer” in the subject line.

The planting is part of the TRU Campus Tree Program. Volunteers will meet up at 10 a.m. at the main gate of the TRU Materials Distribution Centre (the warehouse) on TRU Way Road, across from the Animal Health Technology building.
