“Having fun with your colleagues while enjoying my favourite game; that’s what Green Golf is all about.”
— Tom Owen, TRU’s first director of Environment and Sustainability

Tom’s tournament is a great team-building event for many TRU offices and departments and attracts golf keeners and newbies.

This is the tournament’s seventh year and will have many of the core components from previous years along with some new features.

Registration is open to nine teams, with four players on each. Admission includes green fees (nine holes and shotgun start), burger and beer dinner, golf cart, taxes and gratuities and a $10 donation to the TRU Tom Owen Environmental Sustainability Award. The award is $500 each and goes to a student displaying a keen interest in sustainability through research, leadership and career aspirations.

The tournament features a best ball format, golf games at each hole with prizes for the winners, and all teams are encouraged to participate in the Green Golf Outfit Contest. The winning team of the costume contest receives lunch for four.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. (dietary requests can be accommodated by emailing by August 12), followed by the prize awards.

Golf club rentals are through the golf course.
