The TRU BEd (Elementary) degree program readies you to teach in elementary schools in any Canadian province or territory. Teacher candidates acquire knowledge of learning theories, curriculum and all other aspects of education, and then apply this knowledge in a series of practica, a key component of their learning.

“The program truly equipped and prepared me for virtually any situation that might arise in the teaching profession,” said Michael Wood, a BEd alumnus. “I benefitted greatly from the small class sizes and the personable and caring faculty.”

After graduation, teacher candidates obtain a professional teaching certificate from the BC Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch. In certain cases, they can teach in secondary schools, and some graduates gain teaching experience in other countries.
