UPDATE: Due to the lack of teams and the current wild fire situation – folks volunteering etc, Green Golf has been canceled this year.
“Having fun with your colleagues while enjoying my favourite game; that’s what Green Golf is all about.” (Tom Owen).
The TRU Sustainability Office is delighted to announce that registration is now open for the 7th annual Tom Owen Memorial Green Golf Tournament, July 19 at 4:30 PM at Eaglepoint Golf Resort in Barnhartvale.
Tom’s tournament is a great team-building event for many TRU offices and departments, and attracts golf keeners and newbies. This year’s version will have many of the core components from previous years, and some enjoyable new add-ons. Registration is now open to nine teams of four players each, and costs $60 per person, which includes green fees (9 holes and ‘shotgun start’), ‘Burger & Beer’ dinner, golf cart, taxes and gratuities, and a $10 donation to the TRU Tom Owen Environmental Sustainability Award (which awards $500 each year to a student who displays a keen interest in sustainability through research, leadership and career aspirations). The tournament features a ‘best ball’ format, golf games at each hole with prizes for the winners, and all teams are encouraged to participate in the Green Golf Outfit Contest (with lunch for four going to the best dressed team!).
Dinner will be served at 7 PM (dietary requests can be accommodated by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by August 12th), followed by the prize awards. Golf club rentals can be organized through the golf course, and, of course, car-pooling is encouraged!
Please send registrations and/or questions to James Gordon: email@example.com or 250-852-7153.
