ESTR expands retail lab

November 17, 2016

Students in ESTR's retail training are ready for a year of operating the store on wheels.

TRU’s unique program in Education and Skills Training (ESTR) is about to expand opportunities for learning through retail experience. Approval has been given to create a Retail Lab on Level 2 of Old Main building, TRU-Kamloops campus.

ESTR students will gain real-life retail experience through operating sales, under faculty supervision, at the ESTR Retail Lab.

This exciting new initiative will be launched in the new year and is supported by generous donations from the SpencerCreo Foundation and New Gold/New Afton.

The Lab was conceived by Leanne Mihalicz with Saskia Stinson and will be built by TRU’s skilled Facilities team.

The Retail Lab will complement the already popular ESTR Kiosk that is open twice weekly in Student Street, Old Main, selling a wide range of edible goods and gifts.

Rumour has it that the handmade chocolate at the Kiosk is the best in the Interior! ESTR is a unique program that is based in the University and Preparation Department, Faculty of Education and Social Work.
