TRU Gala, the annual flagship fundraiser for the TRU Foundation, drew 330 guests and raised more than $70,000. The money raised goes towards student scholarships and bursaries.

The sold out event, held last Saturday in the Grand Hall, was a Viennese theme and featured a menu, entertainment, and a raffle prize (a European river cruise) to match.

Christopher Seguin, TRU Vice President of Advancement, says the affair was one of the most successful yet, especially given the current economic climate.

“I am always amazed at how much our donors continue to invest in us given the challenging economy the world faces at the moment. We are very grateful for their support, without it, we would be unable to meet the evolving needs of our students,” Seguin said.

Several student clubs also benefitted from the event. Respiratory Therapy students coordinated the valet parking and the TRU Cheerleading team manned the coat check, with each group receiving the proceeds.

Next year’s gala is slated for February 11, 2017.
