Margaret Hall: The legal needs of people living with dementia

When Law faculty member Margaret Hall (Law) began her research journey into guardianship and dementia, she began by asking the big questions — bringing a philosophical bent to her legal investigation.

“All laws are based on ideas, and understanding how laws might be changed for the better first requires a close examination of those underlying ideas,” she says. “Where did (the ideas) come from? Why do we consider them important, valuable and true? Are there some other, potentially important ideas that deserve attention?”
