TRU recognizes Professor Ehsan Latif’s research accomblishments

Thompson Rivers University bestowed Dr. Ehsan Latif, Associate Professor of Economics the 2013-2014 Excellent in Scholarship Award.

The Award for Excellence in Scholarship recognizes excellence in research, scholarly activity or the production of creative works over a sustained period of time that represents a significant contribution to the field of inquiry. Award winners will have a record of consistent dissemination of results, successfully competed for external funds, and shared their enthusiasm for new knowledge creation through the supervision of students, development of new courses, programs, or teaching innovations, collaborations with other faculty members at TRU, and/or community engagement.

Ehsan Latif HeadshotProfessor Latif has published 28 papers in prestigious, peer-reviewed journals across Canada, the United States, Europe and Bangladesh. His main focus has been on economic analysis of Canadian healthcare policy with particular attention to health care utilization by immigrants, unemployment, obesity, diabetes, retirement, and most recently income inequality and personal health.  Ehsan incorporates his personal research into each of his classes and works to enhance his pedagogy to facilitate student success. Ehsan has not only explored new areas of the Canadian economy but has created a new generation of creative economists who have the skills to deal with the problems related to modern economic system.
