Professor Jason Shogren will be visiting TRU from April 2-4, 2014

It is with great pleasure to announce that Professor Jason Shogren from the University of Wyoming will be visiting the Department of Economics at Thompson Rivers University on April 2-4, 2014.  Professor Jason F. Shogren will be giving a talk at the Environmental Seminar Series. His research interest is in environmental, natural resource economics, public finance, public choice, experimental economics and applied econometrics.

He has contributed to a dozen books, over 80 book chapters, and more than 200 journal publications. Jason Shogren has co-authored two of the top ten most highly cited papers in the prestigious American Journal of Agricultural Economics from 1995–2008. He has worked on many high importance public policy project such as the Kyoto Protocol and the U.S. Endangered Species Act. He was recognized by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for his contributions to their 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winning reports. He has received the 2006 AAEA Publication of Enduring Quality, and the 2000 AAEA Outstanding Choices Article Award. 

Shogren is a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. By royal appointment in 2007–2008, he served as professor to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, residing at Umeå University. He returned to his community of Centennial, Wyoming following his year as the King’s Economist, where he enjoys fishing and performing with his hard acoustic roots band. He currently holds the position of Stroock Professor of Natural Resource Conservation and Management in the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Wyoming.
