The following is an open letter to the TRU community, congratulating Rob Anderson for being the recipient of the Chair Leadership Award for 2012-13…

Dear TRU Community,

On behalf of the Chair Leadership Award Selection Committee, I am pleased to announce that Rob Anderson is the recipient of the 2012-2013 Chair Leadership Award which recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities and abilities in carrying out their full range of functions in their role as Chair at Thompson Rivers University.

Rob was first elected Chair of the Department of Management in 2009 and is now completing the first year of his second term as Chair of the Accounting and Finance Department in the School of Business and Economics. He is recognized for his selfless leadership qualities, integrity and professional conduct. Rob leads by example and although he sets a consistently high standard for faculty at all times, he also provides a very supportive and caring environment and will celebrate the achievements of his faculty.

Rob has been instrumental in guiding the Department through many changes and initiatives including the restructuring of the former Department of Management into three new departments, and promoting the application and adoption of gaining accreditation through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AASCB) which provides internationally recognized specialized accreditation for business and accounting programs.

Rob promotes and participates in many activities and events on and off campus including the Professional Accounting Fair to promote student interaction with potential employers and accounting bodies, and the two-week Winter Camp for international students. Rob is a member of the CGA BC Educational Advisory Committee and serves on TRU’s Board of Governors.

Rob will be presented the Chair Leadership Award on Friday, May 3, 2013. He will also be given a gift certificate in the amount of $1,500 to attend a Leadership workshop/conference of his choice.

Please join me in congratulating Rob on winning this important award.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ulrich Scheck
Provost & Vice-President Academic
