The United Way is hosting more than 25 TRU Faculty of Law students volunteering their time to serve a hot meal to those in need at PIT Stop – the People In Transition meal program at Kamloops United Church on January 20 from 1–5pm.

Expected to prepare and serve the meal for approximately 130 people, the TRU Law students will host the last PIT Stop meal in the Kamloops United Church’s old kitchen. Kamloops United Church will begin hosting PIT Stop meals in the new kitchen and hall starting January 27.

The new kitchen and equipment was funded through the Aviva Community Fund. The project received $80,000 for new equipment, which included stove, ovens, dishwasher, freezers, fridges, shelving, and cabinetry.

The United Way works to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.

The United Way affects change in three focus areas: All that kids can be, Poverty to possibility, and Healthy people, strong communities.
