Canada's trade and foreign policies subject of free talks at TRU

KAMLOOPS – The public is invited to two free talks at Thompson Rivers University March 15 and 19 presented by the TRU Faculty Association’s human rights committee.

On March 15, federal member of parliament Peter Julian (NDP-Burnaby/New Westminster), current critic for international trade and globalization, the Treasury Board, persons with disabilities, and natural resources, will speak on “Canada’s Trade Policy: What’s Wrong With This Picture?” at 10:30 am in room 1020 of TRU’s International Building. 

The March 19 presentation features Professor Michael Byers, a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Global Politics and International Law at UBC, where he also serves as Academic Director of the Liu Institute for Global Issues. Dr. Byers’s research focuses on the interaction of international law and international politics, especially with regard to international organizations, the use of military force, the law of the sea, human rights and Canada-United States relations. He is a regular contributor to the London Review of Books and the Globe and Mail, and is the author of War Law. He will speak on “Intent for a Nation: Canada, climate change, terrorism and war” at 7:30 pm in room 2621 of TRU’s Old Main building.
